ACTIVATE Performing Arts runs a large selection of Schools Workshops which are suitable for all ages up to A Level
Schools

PRIMARY

For actors up to Year 2


The Teddy Bears’ Picnic
In this workshop children bring their bears on an adventure. Eventually the teddy bears become the audience and the children take on the characters to experience the adventure themselves! Basic drama skills are covered in this workshop.




The Magic Forest

In this workshop children turn
a story into a play by using
a variety of performance
techniques. These include
soundscape, freeze-frames and mime to narrative.


The Zoo

This workshop is based on
the delightful book The Funny
Friendly Zoo. Characterisation
of the book’s animals forms the base of the work that develops into creating new stories.


Intro to Percussion

Myths and Drama

The myths and drama series
of workshops bring mythology
to life through drama. The
workshops can be based on
myths from my collection or
specific myths that you would
like ACTIVATE to cover.
The series includes 
Mythology of The World, Ancient Greece,           Ancient Egypt,              African Mythology          & Celtic Mythology.


Theatre from Other
Countries


Japanese theatre looks at Noh, Kabuki and Taiko whilst Greek theatre looks at the beginning of theatre, mask work and chorus. Other countries are available upon request.

New for 2014/2015 Bollywood!!

This workshop focuses on storytelling through gesture and movement allowing opportunities for both skill based and creative work.

Drumming

Samba drumming and Taiko
drumming
workshops are
available again from September. All drumming workshops use bins, buckets and other plastic substitutes for safety and recycling.

The Theatre based workshops are available for all ages at different levels. They cover a variety of skills that are age

Introduction to Drama

Voice and Speech
(This can
be linked to speaking and listening as both skills are used simultaneously throughout the workshop)

Movement
(This workshop has many options from physicality in character to a base for creative dance)

Devising
(Particularly popular at GCSE , a step-by-step process to creating something from nothing)

Creating a Character
(This workshop can stand alone or link in with your school production)
